Concept development, business modeling, go-to-market strategy, and roadmaps for mobile payments

The standard criticism leveled at most mobile payment services is that they're a solution without a problem. Credit cards are fast, lightweight, and (somewhat) secure. So when we were tasked with developing concepts and a complete business case for mobile payments, the first thing we went looking for was an unmet need shared by both consumers and merchants. Based on our research, we created a map that explored a range of strategic opportunities.
Unify was a concept that focused on experiential spending rather than everyday transactions. The unmet need we tackled was group spending. With this project we really tackled everything: strategic landscape evaluation, concept development, full P&L with financial projections, 5-year roadmaps, competitive benchmarking, UI design, and user journey storyboarding. Each element was necessary to make the case since a few cents one way or the other can be the difference between winning and losing for payment businesses.
